Holy Resurrection Celtic Church
is a Celtic Mission established in 2015 to spread the Good News of Christ's Resurrection throughout Smyrna, TN and the surrounding area. Our forms of worship follow the pattern of the ancient Christians of Western Europe and the British Isles from the First to Sixth Centuries AD.
Since many of you may be unfamiliar with the Celtic expression of historical Christianity, we wish to express a short list of what we are NOT as well as tell you what we are. It is important that we present an open, honest presentation of ourselves, to avoid ANY misconceptions or misunderstandings. With that in mind...
We Are Not...
Wiccans, Witches, Warlocks, Pagans, or Neo-Pagans; nor do we follow their beliefs or practices in any way, save when their beliefs or practices follow ours (in other words, IF their beliefs cross into Christian areas).
We Are...
decidedly, unapologetically CHRISTIAN, in beliefs, practices, and spiritual roots that go DIRECTLY in UNBROKEN lines back to the Apostles, and the expression of which was brought to the Celtic Lands by Joseph of Arimathea, being the first great evangelist to the area (even before Rome).
We Are Not...
Racist, Separatists, or a Hate Group, in any part or in whole. The Expression of Worship that we utilize is the expression of worship that was brought to the Celtic lands and used for almost a 1000 years until Roman oppression stamped it out. The Term "Celtic" does NOT mean one must have Celtic roots or heritage to be part of our Community. All are welcome to share in what we have to offer.
We Are...
Human Beings, created in God's image, but crippled by sin, unable to bear God's image as we should. No matter what race, ethnicity, or sex, the grace of God through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the source and hope for eternal life for "whosoever believeth." We seek to live out this truth, not just in our own lives, but to share this faith with any who would join with us in communion.
We Are Not...
Re-enactors, LARPers, or a Rennaissance Festival; nor are any of our people simply obsessed with the History of the Celtic people or the History of the Christian Church.
We Are...
Disciples of the Risen Christ, who SIMPLY, out of Love and obedience to the Son of God and the Apostles of Him, who by His instruction established and evangelized His Church throughout the World (including the Celtic Church, being one of the first), seek to share the beauty of this ancient faith with a society in desperate need of God's love, the hope of Christ's Gospel, the Holy Spirit's power, and a sense of root and foundation that are deeper and more solid than the latest internet meme, pop-psychology self-help book, or "flavor-of-the-month" superstar mega-church.
Finally, We Are Not...
Part of the Roman Catholic Church, nor the Protestant Reformation. Out roots go further back than the Protestant Reformation; and the changes in the Roman Doctrines and Dogma were not adopted; nor is our group part of any that was founded by the divorce of a King. (i.e. Episcopal church).
We Are...
A GENUINE Celtic Orthodox Christian Church, about the REAL functions, responsibilities and privileges of worship, evangelism, and discipleship. The Celtic Liturgy is our chosen expression of all of those things.
